Registrations are now open and free for cyclists of all ages and abilities to enjoy the perfect family activity ahead of an action-packed weekend of racing.
In 2025, the course is increasing to 2km of safe, closed-off and flat circuit, and will now include the waterfront Ritchie Boulevard so families can enjoy more of the sun-drenched Geelong setting.
And importantly, the increase in course length will see more kids, more parents and more smiles take the opportunity to create new cycling memories and support healthy habits.
Families will also get to ride alongside Cadel Evans and some of the best riders in world cycling – passing under the official Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race finish gantry just like the professionals will do over the weekend.
Simon Gerrans, former Australian cycling professional, two-time monument winner and multiple placegetter at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, has joined the 2025 GeelongPort Family Ride as an ambassador and said he can’t wait to see all the families hit the circuit next year.
“It’s a real thrill for me being Victorian to be involved and I’m passionate about parents getting their kids into cycling early,” he said.
“The GeelongPort Family Ride is just a fantastic element of what is a festival of cycling in Geelong – something the whole family can get involved with.
“I have four kids and we’ll be on the circuit Friday afternoon enjoying it with over 1,000 other kids and families.”
Gerrans owns Hendry’s bike stores in Grovedale and Ocean Grove, which shares the GeelongPort Family Ride’s passion for supporting cyclists of all levels and ensuring their two-wheeled adventures are as fulfilling as they are memorable.
Hendry’s will be hosting a free ‘style your ride’ activation during the GeelongPort Family Ride for all kids in attendance, as well as providing mechanical support should anyone require it.
The first 500 registered kids will receive a free GeelongPort Family Ride t-shirt to wear during the ride.
