How did you get into cycling? I discovered my passion for cycling after the 2006 Commonwealth Games when, out of the blue, my brother invited me to ride the Commonwealth Games MTB track at Lysterfield Park. One ride was all it took, and we were both instantly hooked. We returned the following weekend, and the one after that, soon finding ourselves riding twice a weekend. From there, I progressed to MTB marathon racing, taking part in events like the Otway Odyssey and Wombat 100 multiple times. Eventually, I got into road cycling and became hooked on that as well.
Favourite bike? Whichever bike I rode last always feels like the best one. Every time I get off a bike after a ride, I find myself thinking, "I absolutely love this bike." It doesn’t need to be the lightest or the fastest—just as long as it’s a bike, that’s what matters.
Riding type? Track - I still do a lot of road cycling, but bring on the banking and high speeds and I’m in my element.
Favourite ride? I love a good track meet—quick, intense races with some banter in between; always a great time. When I’m not on the track, I’m cycling down the Surf Coast for a coffee with friends.
Favourite coffee? Anything strong.
