The Bellarine Peninsula holds a special place in Nadine's heart, where she was never far from a bike, surfboard, tennis racquet, or a netball. Growing up in a vibrant sporting community, she progressed from the local netball courts to competing nationally.
Relocating to Melbourne to pursue her successful netball career, Nadine also competed in marathons, open water swims and triathlons. Cycling soon became her thing; her bike becoming her ultimate travel companion. With stints in Margaret River, Perth, and Sydney, she returned to Melbourne, where she worked with the Amy Gillett Foundation and Rapha Australia. Home had always been the Bellarine Peninsula, so when the chance arose to join Hendry’s and help support its legacy under the new leadership of Simon, it provided the perfect motivation to reignite her passion and return to the cycling world as Marketing and Event Manager.
How did you get into cycling?
I was enjoying “wine life” in Margaret River, swimming and running, when my local swim squad encouraged me to sign up for the Busselton Ironman. A local winemaker crafted a bike perfectly sized for a 6-footer, so it wasn’t exactly love at first ride! After that, I moved to Perth, where the vibrant cycling scene, complete with white knicks and river laps alongside rising stars, Jess Allen, Durbridge, the Myers brothers and a new bike, rekindled my passion. I then spent a few years riding the hills of Akuna Bay and Bobbin Head with the NSW Turramurra CC, before returning to Melbourne to join in the boom of cycling. There, rides along Beach Road, Sorrento, and the day trip to Inverloch became the norm, making it inevitable that I would eventually find myself at the start line of the Melbourne to Warrnambool (winter edition, and as the only female participant)!
